As much as we enjoy your dazzling array of guests and topics, your #uppers would enjoy a shot of the day's pastries. You need a Kent Jones type to do a 30-second segment to tell us about today's selection and where to order our very own delectible selection of Uppers Snacks...
Would love to see you get the Maryland governor who appeared with Virginia's governor the other day and countered his transvaginal ultrasound and other culture war legislation.
If you discuss at all the GOP Debates, it would have been right on key if moderator John King would have asked the candidates their opinion of this quote by the great Thomas Jefferson:
"Say nothing of my religion. It is known to God and myself alone. Its evidence before the world is to be sought in my life: if it has been honest and dutiful to society, the religion which has regulated it cannot be a bad one."
ALSO, the debates have exposed the GOP as anti-student, anti-worker, anti-retiree with defined goals of ending public education, worker protections, safety standards-- and privatizing, if not fully dismantling, Social Security and Medicare-- the diminishing of America with anti-science, anti-research and a pretense of their preferred religion--
as they, in reality, despise the poor-- and worship the almighty dollar and the rich. And let’s not forget that the situation for many disadvantaged citizens is the result of how Bush allowed bankers to push subprime mortgages—that inevitable day of reckoning arriving as families went bankrupt, yet bankers emerged victoriously arrogant with billions of tax payers dollars. Witness occupy wall street, occupy the world.
And war profiteering during the Bush/Cheney years needs a conversation--glad to see Jeremy Scahill coming on the show.......billions "missing" in Iraq....
Brett just saw your homework assignment on Iran. I have much much more if I had the time. Have been watching and tracking for years the hogwash being repeated about Iran. Tracked the hogwash being said about Iraq before the invasion. Why have Anne Marie Slaughter and the rest of these folks on to talk about Iran when you could have Hillary on who has directly negotiated with Iran. Do the owners of MSNBC Comcast block real facts on Iran from your program? What the hell. We are not talking about some lefties coming on. Just experts on Iran. What are you afraid of? Losing your paycheck?

Flynt Leverett – Biography
Flynt Leverett is a professor at Pennsylvania State University’s School of International Affairs and directs the Iran Project at the New America Foundation, where he is a Senior Research Fellow. He is also a Visiting Scholar at Peking University’s School of International Studies.
Dr. Leverett is a leading authority on the Middle East and Persian Gulf, U.S. foreign policy, and global energy affairs. From 1992 to 2003, he had a distinguished career in the U.S. government, serving as Senior Director for Middle East Affairs at the National Security Council, on the Secretary of State’s Policy Planning Staff, and as a CIA Senior Analyst. He left the George W. Bush Administration and government service in 2003 because of disagreements about Middle East policy and the conduct of the war on terror.
Dr. Leverett has written extensively on the politics, international relations, and political economy of the Middle East and Persian Gulf. In a series of monographs, articles, and opinion pieces (many co-authored with Hillary Mann Leverett), he has challenged Western conventional wisdom on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s foreign policy and internal politics, documented the historical record of previous Iranian cooperation with the United States, and presented the seminal argument in American foreign policy circles for a U.S.-Iranian “grand bargain”. His new book, Going to Tehran: Why the United States Must Come to Terms with the Islamic Republic (also co-authored with Hillary Mann Leverett), will be published in 2012.
Dr. Leverett has published opinion pieces in many high-profile venues, including The New York Times, POLITICO, and CNN, and contributes frequently to Foreign Policy. He has been interviewed about Iran and its geopolitics on leading public affairs programs around the world, including Charlie Rose, The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, Empire and Riz Khan (Al Jazeera English), Viewpoint (Abu Dhabi Television), Spotlight (Russia Today) and Washington Journal (C-Span), as well as in leading publications such as Der Spiegel and Le Monde. Along with Hillary Mann Leverett, he was featured in the PBS Frontline documentary, “Showdown With Iran”, and profiled in Esquire magazine.
Dr. Leverett has spoken about U.S.-Iranian relations at foreign ministries and strategic research centers in Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. He has been a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Yale University.
Dr. Leverett holds a Ph.D. in politics from Princeton University and is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the International Institute for Strategic Studies
Anyway question for Anne Marie Slaughter. Why did she say that negotiations with Iran have been exhausted when she was on Washington Journal recently? Also when will Chris Hayes or anyone bring up that IRAN HAS THE RIGHT TO ENRICH URANIUM UP TO 20% based on signing the NPT.
Questions: Why is it that we do not hear more pressure put on Israel to sign the NPT? The last President to demand that Israel open up to inspections was President Kennedy.
When will you folks have real Iranian experts on like Flynt and Hillary Mann Leverett?

Thanks!
Sorry about all of the garbage along with their biographies. I am not savvy with my internet skills although I do a tremendous amount of reading on line. As well as being a junkie of the news right left and center
Too long; didn't read.
I think you've violated their copyrights too. Next time just post a link. Not the entire web page html.
Oh yeah Brett Micheal Rubin was just on Al Jazeera with Hillary Mann Leverett. Micheal Rubin definitely pushed the invasion of Iraq
the two new clips of the Leverett latest interviews are worth the time

And lets hope and pray that Chris Hayes does not allow any of the guest to repeat that Iran wants to wipe Israel off the map. Total bull. Debunked by Prof Cole and others that that was ever said.
Also please mention that former weapons inspector Robert Kelly has said that much of what was allowed in the lates IAEA report by the new head of the IAEA Amano that former head of the IAEA El Baradei had not allowed in the previous IAEA report on Iran because those claims could not substantiated

My three questions:
1. Anne marie Slaughter why did you recently say on Washington Journal that negotiations with Iran have been "exhausted"
2. Why is there not more pressure on Israel to sign the NPT? Israel and the I lobby threaten Iran almost daily
3. Please mention that Iran has the right to enrich uranium up to 20% as a signatory of the NPT
Too bad you folks did not invite Kelly on your program. Oh yeah Comcast owns you
Center for American Progress’ doubles down with lobby
by Philip Weiss on February 25, 2012 8
More evidence that the only game in Washington is the Israel lobby. The Center for American Progress (CAP), a Democratic Party thinktank under steady attack from neoconservatives for being critical of Israel, has taken on a pr firm associated with Jewish organizations, including the neoconservative Jewish Council for Public Affairs, so as to maintain its street cred. Adam Kredo reports at the Free Beacon:
Earlier this week, Ilene Cohen made the pointed observation that in the eyes of many in the Jewish community, the New York Times is a Jewish house organ and not the paper of record. But this is the political reality of the Democratic establishment; the Israel lobby is in the saddle. Obama raised $1.2 million last June at a dinner at the home of David Cohen, the executive vice president of the company that owns NBC and MSNBC. You can be sure that many of the people who gave $10,000 came from Cohen's network at the Jewish Federations, which he had headed-- and an organization that CAP's new p.r. firm also represented.
As for CAP's new bedfellow, JCPA, here is the thinktank stirring up fears of Iran's "existential" threat to Israel.
Just imagine the pressure on the journalists at CAP not to say that AIPAC is pushing war with Iran...
Really like the show
So are you talking to Merkley about a Volcker rule or about oil? Re Oil: They aren't making it anymore! Sure speculation and the potential of war with Iran can make it go up but ultimately the real problem is that it is a dwindling natural resource and when it is gone it is gone period. It will continue to up and our standard of living will continue to decline until we have a sustainable economy using renewable energy. As far as I am concerned the price of gas going up will only motivate to do things we need to do anyway. Yes, it can lead to a recession but the economy needs to shrink to a sustainable level.
Great work, Kathleen.
A question that may be asked from the guests:
After the 9/11 attacks, Democrats lined up behind an unelected president. Will Iran's Greens do so behind an unelected Ahmadinejad? How did Iranians respond to Saddam's invasion?
Anar Green.
Have to look through my records have lots of interviews marked over the years where many of the same individuals who lied this nation into Iraq plus new war pushers have been repeating the false claims about Iran. Have been obsessive at times.
Know I posted and linked to some of the interviews that Tim Russert did with Cheney soon after the invasion of Iraq where Cheney started pounding on Iran. Where did those links and info go? Know I put them up on this thread or the Iran homework thread. Also Prof Coles debunking of the often repeated neocon line that "Iran wants to wipe Israel off the map" Total bull
