I think it is great what the state AGs are doing. I suppose Biden does not have as prominent role is because it would be perceived as cronyism. Because AIG got bailed out they were able to make good on a lot of guaranteed lifetime annuities people had bought with 401K money they rolled over when they retired. Had they not been bailed out there would have been so many lawsuits things would have changed. No damages no legal action. Obviously people were lied to, obviously there was stealing but it did not result in direct harm and therefore nothing is being done. Regarding foreclosures; yes you should not foreclose unless you own the mortgage but legally speaking you shouldn't be able to sell the house either or for that matter have to pay the property taxes. What a mess!
Another comment. The state of Montana has taken some action against Citizens v United. Their supreme court upheld state law regulating corporate contributions to campaigns. Seems like the do nothing federal government is in perpetual deadlock and any change we want made should be focused on state governments. It will be interesting to see if the federal involvement will empower or neuter prosecution efforts.
I really loved today's show. I learned enough to be pissed off .I loved the conversations about taxes.Your show gives me my political Umpff on the weekend.I made that word up.Thanks for making me smarter .
Its not the dream or goal of home ownership that is the problem that caused the housing bubble and finacial crisis. It is the profit motive system that set up companies who acted in not the buyers or the lenders best interests but in their own selfish profit motive greed. Talking people into buying houses they couldn't afford and not being responsible for when the borrowers coudln't pay but then again making money on fore closing on them they profit both ways coming and going. I am sick of hearing national news people saying now that people need to live in multigeneration homes and not single family homes. They are actually pushing for it. They call that affordable housing of the future? That's how the illegals live coming to this country because they take pay so low it takes 3-5 incomes to pay for a place to stay,
Unbelievable, I’ve been looking for news concerning investigations of the financial industry meltdown. All I get is spoiled, silver spoons trying to sound witty and WAY too much coverage of the GOP presidential primary circus. All those experts and no one can tell me the percentage of Bush/Cheney debt American taxpayers are stuck paying off this year. Chris Hayes is well on his way to being the Andrea Mitchell of his time. I guess I’m the only one wondering how MS Mitchell missed the story of Alan Greenspan promoting fraud on Wall St. (watch movie “Inside Job” narrated by Matt Damon) If it wasn’t for Rev Al Sharpton, Rachel Maddow and Big Ed Shultz I would never tune in MSNBC.
Who the f*** was THAT fat m*******? @!$%# Steve Jobs… I wouldn’t touch an APPLE product if Steve came back from the grave and paid me to use one. The slave labor used to make APPLE profitable is detestable to me.
I want to see a revolution where all you silver spoon trust fund babies are dragged out to the streets, chopped up and fed to Gulf wildlife. Occupy the NEWS media. It’s OUR public airwaves you’re using.
One of the items on the menu that appears when you click the "!" in the lower right corner of each comment is "Inflammatory". Your comment qualifies.
Don't know if MSNBC allows dissenting opinions but Chris Hayes is an Obama shill. He stated the administration created 1.2 million jobs and that the Volt will be the largest selling car next year. I suppose if you say these things enough people will believe them but only if you're as stupid as Chris
Yea yea we already heard this news. Yes yes robo signing, waste fraud abuse of power, deregulation, yes yes. I already heard it ALL! Ok I'm ANGRY, what are we going to do about IT? ACTION!
What the American PEOPLE want is to see some government & corporate officials in a crowded holding cell wearing chains.
Chris is an Idiot! The administration did NOT create 1.2 million jobs and the Volt is going the way of the Edsel.
We must destroy the Republican Party before they destroy the USA! no JUSTICE NO peace!
Vote for Obama/Biden & Democrats in 2012. After we get rid of the Republican Party... the PEOPLE can do a hostile takeover of the Democratic Party concerncitizens.blogspot.com
Thank you Chris for another highly informative, fact based, and revealing show. When president Obama talked about the new Investigative Task Force, I thought, " It's about time and what took you so long...are you in cahoots with the cheats and grifters?". While I still don't know what he was waiting for, I think the AGs who will co-chair the group are smart and passionate about holding the evildoers accountable. I have a tad of hope that maybe we will finally prosecute the cheats and assist those who were innocently ruined by their deeds.
Yes thank you Chris. William Goode was a little rough on you but I believe you'll do great investigative journalism in the future... As for the rest I agree with Goode 99%, lol!
If the Justice Dept doesn't do it's job prosecuting the banking industry perps then the people will takeover. I do a lot of traveling in my role as a community organizer and cutting edge boat rocker so I've met an awful lot of people that want to tar, feather, seize assets and run out of town on a rail, some want firing squads and others want to feed the silver spoons to Gulf wildlife... DEMANDS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY are getting too loud to ignore! I am somebody too spoact.blogspot.com
