The key to the response in Wisconsin -- 300,000 circling the Capitol is --underwear! WE prepare for winter in Wisconsin and when the Governor overreached it was easy to mount a protest - we watch the Green Bay Packers in subzero weather, in an unheated stadium! And our Senators can count so they knew that their absence would leave the Governor without a quorum! The Public buses ran extra buses to avoid a gridlock of cars AND the public protectors, Police, Firemen joined the protestors. Wisconsin employees have been organized since 1956 -- What one has to wondered is -- what would people who live in warm climates know about the determination of working people in a COLD State know about protests -- nothing! --and it's our job to educate them!
Dorothy--you are heroes, champions, legendary warriors---- intrepid and resolute. Impressive how you brave absolute marrow-chilling weather, and continue to pitch battle with your spiteful cold-hearted governor. His eyes really show that coldness, don't they. Just two pools of maliciousness. Victor Hugo once said "The malicious have a dark happiness." The governor exudes that. And Churchill --skilled in battle--observed "those who would make us feel, must feel themselves." Meant to be. RECALL!!! We out east support you fully.
WE are the Heartland of America and to quote John NIchol (7 generation Wisconsonite) about the legendary Fighting Bob La Follette, who developed his revulsion of corporation from hearing, as a student at the University of Wisconsin in 1873, the words of a fiery Irish radical Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Court. "... (there) is loming up a dark new power. . . The enterprises of the country are aggregativing vast corporate capital. . .The question will arise, and arise in your day though perhaps not fully in mine: "Which shall lead -- money or intellect? Who shall fill public stations -- educated and patriotic free men or feudal serfs of corporate wealth?"
1873 to 2011 we are repeating the same question. Will we let the Twins - the 5th and 6th wealthiest men IN THE WORLD, select our leaders or will we follow the Progressive leadership of Bob La Fallotte, Gaylord Nelson and Russ Feingold?
When you have Mahlon Mitchell, head of the FireFighter Union, speaking on Up with Chris, there is an indication of positive leadership. Schooled in the same high school - men of very different outlooks. --We well win!
